Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso - DOC FRIULI COLLI ORIENTALI
One the territory’s most emblematic wines, it takes its name from the stem attaching the grape to the bunch which becomes red before harvest.
SENSORY CHARACTERISTICS:
This is a very old autochthonous Friuli variety which has several clones. It has an intense red colour with violet highlights. The aroma is winey and very ample with notes of woodland fruits and raspberries. It is slightly tannic and zesty.

Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso al 100%.
PRODUCTION ZONE AND EXPOSURE:
The vines are located in the town of Prepotto, Province of Udine, at 160 m above sea level with a south eastern exposure.
TRAINING SYSTEM:
Guyot, with a yield of 7/8,000 kg per hectare.
SOIL TYPE:
Grown in the Ronco area where the high percentage of clay (called ponca) and hillside exposition give the wines great depth, aroma and persistence.
HARVEST PERIOD:
Late September with manual collection into baskets.
VINIFICATION:
Destemming and pressing of the grapes followed by maceration for about 10 days with daily delestage. The malolactic fermentation is completed in wood.
MATURING AND AGING:
11 months in wooden barriques used for the second time followed by further aging in the bottle.
FOOD PAIRINGS:
This wine is best suited to fatty meats.
